Runzheimer Launches Industry-Leading Business Travel Program Benchmarking Service: Runzheimer's Travel Management Network

Runzheimer International recently launched Runzheimer's Travel Management Network (TMN). TMN is designed to assist organizations in benchmarking their employee travel programs and costs and to prepare for supplier negotiations. "TMN is the first web-based informational service that is available 24/7and combines objective travel cost benchmarking information with a wide array of trend information regarding current practices in managing employee travel policies and programs," says Phyllis Schumann, Runzheimer Travel Services Consultant.

"Effective management of travel programs impacts the bottom line. Participants in a recent Runzheimer study indicated that their organizations’ travel costs would be an average of 26 percent higher without their efforts. TMN provides an objective resource to help organizations quantify the return on the investment in managing travel," (*) says Schumann.

TMN includes a wide array of airfare benchmarking information, including airfare history, with easy to use data exporting capabilities to support analytics and reporting. An analysis of airfares for 200 randomly selected city pairs that are available within TMN showed that low cost carrier airlines charge airfares that are 19% lower than the most dominant carrier in a given market. (**) The information available within TMN provides a wide array of airfare benchmarks and helps organizations effectively manage their airlines procurement activities and to model the cost impact of making changes in their supplier relationships.
