Runzheimer to Host Employee Mobility Forum: Results of First-Time Benchmarking Study To Be Released

September 26, 2005

Runzheimer International will host an Employee Mobility Forum for senior executives on November 10, 2005 in Chicago, Illinois. At this conference, the results of Runzheimer’s groundbreaking benchmarking study - the first tool available to measure the total employee mobility costs of Fortune 2000 companies - will be shared with participants. This study, with participation from a broad cross-section of corporate America including ADP, Motorola, and DuPont, was conducted in collaboration with Associates for International Research, Inc. (AIRINC) and Dr. Jac Fitz-enz, an acknowledged leader in the field of human capital performance benchmarking and founder of the Saratoga Institute.

"The survey responses are revealing very interesting information regarding overall costs, productivity, and best practices relating to all key areas of employee mobility, including business travel, business vehicle programs/fleets, relocations, international assignments, mobile/home offices, and corporate aircraft,” stated Greg Harper, President of Runzheimer International. "Employee mobility is an expensive corporate activity,” Harper added. “For the first time, senior executives will be able to evaluate how their organization’s employee mobility expenses and practices compare with others. The benchmarking survey is surfacing best practices regarding how to streamline employee mobility processes, reduce costs, increase productivity, and improve management controls.”

Runzheimer International estimates that companies can spend $25,500 per mobile employee per year on travel and entertainment, business vehicle, and communication/technology tools. Employee mobility can become even more expensive when a worker needs to change geographic locations to fill a job vacancy. The average corporation spends $51,700 on a domestic relocation; the amount can rise to $500,000 or more to support an employee on a five-year international assignment.
